2014 Fall Social Skills Groups

Register now for our Fall Social Skills Groups

When: Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays: September 15th – December 13th

Where: Leaps and Bounds

Each group is led by an Occupational Therapist trained in teaching social skills.

Buddy Builders (Ages 3-5 years)

Saturdays: September 20th – December 13th (9:15-10:15 am)

This group will give your child the opportunity to work on making and sustaining friendships. This is an important age to start developing appropriate social interactions with peers in an encouraging environment.

ABCs to Social Skills (Ages 6-8 years)

Mondays: September 15th – December 8th (4:00-5:00 pm)

This group will be centered on developing appropriate social skills. Goals will include increasing your child’s confidence to start building long lasting friendships.

Building Friendships (Ages 8-12 years)

Thursdays: September 18th – December 11th (5:30-6:30 pm)

This group will give your child the opportunity to build confidence, develop age-appropriate social skills, and establish positive friendships with peers.

Girlfriend Group (Ages 7-12 years)

Mondays: September 15th – December 8th (5:15-6:15 pm)

This group will help girls connect and establish positive friendships with peers while engaging in “girly” activities. The group will foster self-confidence, communication, conflict resolution, and other issues that directly affect young girls.

Boys Will Be Boys Club (Ages 11-15 years)

Wednesdays: September 17th – December 10th (6:00-7:00 pm)

This group will help boys connect and establish positive friendships with each other. The group will foster appropriate behaviors, self-confidence, and communication. Conflict resolution will also be addressed throughout the group. Conflict resolution will also be addressed throughout the group.

**An intake assessment will be required for children not already attending Leaps and Bounds to ensure all of the children will receive maximum benefit from their group.**

2014 Fall Speech & Language Groups

Chit Chat Group

Dates and times to be determined

This group is designed for children who are not yet talking or who need a boost in their vocabulary. A portion of this group will include parent participation and will address social language. The group will include ideas to encourage development in the home.

Super Friends

Dates and times to be determined

Designed around the Social Thinking® curriculum, this group targets children with social learning challenges who have verbal and cognitive skills at or above age level. Children in this group should also have a basic understanding that people may be thinking differently. The group will build on this understanding to apply it in social contexts.

Parents will receive instruction on facilitating learning at home.

**An intake assessment will be required for children not already attending Leaps and Bounds to ensure all of the children will receive maximum benefit from their group.**

2014 Fall Handwriting Groups

Register now for our Fall Handwriting Groups

Where: Leaps and Bounds

Each group is led by an Occupational Therapist trained in teaching handwriting.

Beginner Handwriting (Ages 4-6 years)

Mondays: September 15th – December 8th (4:00-5:00 pm)

This group is for children who are learning to recognize and write all the letters of the alphabet along with numbers 1-10. The group will teach your child efficient letter formations and will facilitate appropriate pencil grasp.

Advanced Print (Ages 5-7 years)

Mondays: September 15th – December 8th (5:15-6:15 pm)

This group is for children who can form all of their letters and numbers. These children are working on writing words, adhering to the line, appropriate spacing, and the size of their letters.

**An intake assessment will be required for children not already attending Leaps and Bounds to ensure all of the children will receive maximum benefit from their group.**

2014 Fall Additional Groups

Sensory for Mommy & Me (Ages 18 months – 2 1/2 years)

Mondays: September 15th – December 8th (9:30-10:30 am)

Moms bring your little ones to this group to learn, explore, and grow. Therapists have developed specifically designed activities to promote gross motor and fine motor skills, social play, and sensory development.

Throughout the group, therapists will provide strategies for you to continue developing skills at home specific to your child’s needs.

If you are looking for a group that will not only encourage development, but also focus on your child’s individual goals, this group is for you.

Table Time (Ages 3 – 5 years)

Thursdays: September 18th – December 11th (12:30-1:30 pm)

Is mealtime stressful at your house? Picky eating can be a daily struggle for families. Table Time is a group designed to provide positive mealtime experiences with peers, while increasing the variety of foods a child will eat. This group will also guide parents on how to continue to facilitate these positive changes at home.

**An intake assessment will be required for children not already attending Leaps and Bounds to ensure all of the children will receive maximum benefit from their group.**
